The difference between improv and stand-up
If you've ever been to a standup comedy club, you've probably observed or participated in "heckling" the comedian. Sometimes, these audience callbacks can be incredibly funny, other times the audience member shouting it out can look like a real tool.
Improv is a totally different form of cabaret theater comedy. Although Impulse Theater's subterannean location is reminiscent of a stand-up club, that's where the similiarities ends. Impulse Theater is a form of theater that requires a high degree of concentration from the performers. Of course, at certain points throughout the show, the audience will be prompted to yell out a suggestion for the scene (the key word being prompted).
Thus, heckling at Impulse Theater is not cool. It breaks the concentration of the performers, interrupts the show and disturbs other audience members who are enjoying the performance. We politely ask that all patrons attending an Impulse Theater performance abstain from heckling,
